How to keep your floor cleaning machine at peak performance?

- Sep 29, 2022-

Nothing will help you keep your commercial floors looking good like a quality floor cleaning machine. However, it can be difficult to know how to keep your floor cleaning machine at peak performance. So, let’s take a look at some tips and tricks that will both extend the life of your floor cleaning machine and keep your floor cleaning machine running at its best. First, let's look at what should be done -- and then we'll look at what not.

should do

Before each use:

Check the status of the battery. It's best to start with a fully charged battery so your machine can run at peak efficiency.

Check scrub brushes or pads, as well as scrub head skirts. You won't get a good clean if it's worn or dirty, and the same goes if the scrub head skirt is damaged.

Check the squeegee blades. If worn, you won't get a good cleaning result. TIP: Because the squeegee blade always wipes in the same direction, turning it doubles the life of the blade.

Make sure the screen is clean and the recycling bin is empty. Both of these steps will allow you to clean more efficiently.

During each use:

Keep an eye on your device; it's always better to be proactive. For example, if you find that brushes or pads won't clean either, it's best to replace them as soon as possible. Again, keep an eye on your screen, solution and recycling tanks, and other equipment to make sure it's working properly.

Efficient cleaning. The more efficiently you can clean your floors, the less time it will take and the longer your equipment will last. For example, you may find that more frequent cleaning results in less strenuous cleaning and actually ends up taking less cumulative time.

After each use:

Empty and clean the recycling bin. Not only will this make the next use easier, but it will help ensure that dirt and grime doesn't have a chance to build up in your equipment.

Empty and rinse the solution tank. Rinsing is important; not only does this ensure that the clean water you put in doesn't contaminate the next time you use the scrubber, it also helps ensure that residue doesn't build up, extending the life of the machine.

Remove and clean the solution tank filter. This again helps prevent dirt and grime buildup; simply remove the filter, rinse with clean water, and reinstall to be ready for the next use.

Remove and clean brushes and pads. Likewise, you want to prevent dust and dirt build-up and make sure your machine is ready for the next run. Also check the condition of the brushes and pads so you know in advance if they need to be replaced soon.

Clean the squeegee blades. Rinse thoroughly with water and remove any dirt or dirt buildup. Check to see if it needs to be replaced soon.

Clean the machine. Your floor scrubber can also use a good scrub; for most machines, an all-purpose cleaner and a damp cloth are a good way to keep your machine in pristine condition.

Charge the battery. If your machine has been in use for 30 minutes or more, you may need to charge it to start over next time.

regular:

Spin your brush. Brushes can wear unevenly, so rotating them can help prolong their life. (For example, if you clean weekly, we recommend monthly rotations.)

You may want to have your machine serviced on a regular basis by a professional to make sure everything is running well.

should not do

Forget about pre-sweeping your floors. By sweeping before scrubbing, you can avoid clogging and reduce cleaning time and scrubber wear.

Expedited work. While many floor scrubbers work quickly, it's not necessarily the most efficient way to clean.

Put away your machine without checking your after-use checklist. Leaving the machine dirty or full of grime is a great way to ensure that you have a rough and smelly sludge in your recycling bin that is nearly impossible to clean. Likewise, leaving chemicals or cleaners behind can cause the filter to clog or worse.

Forget to check your battery. The battery is usually the most expensive component in a scrubber.
